A Meeting of Dorstone Parish Council was held in the OLD SCHOOL Hall Dorstone on Wednesday August 14th 2024 at 7-30pm
Present; Councillor A Phillips, Chairman, Councillor D Edmiston, Councillor S Goodwin, Councillor B James, Councillor D Lonsdale, Councillor J Morgan, Councillor D Phillips & Mr C Hendy Clerk.
Apologies; Ward Councillor P Price, Golden Valley Police.
No declaration of Interest.
The Minutes of July 17th 2024, which had been circulated, were agreed.
Reports

Golden Valley Police are investigating a hit & run Mynddbrith Road
Ponty-Weston Stream
a) Discolouration of stream, none reported since last meeting
b) Councillor Phillips reported he had walked along Chapel Lane/village centre about smell around the stream from drain outlet pipe below Telephone Kiosk. drains needed cleaning. Work order raised with Lengthsmen, agreed Clerk to obtain costing for testing water from drains, Chapel Lane Village centre, to try & identify source.
c) Report circulated of a meeting Marian Wilding-Jones had with the Environment Agency, suggestions raised; a leaflet on private sewage installations & owner’s responsibility, testing of waste water in drains, passing on council contact details to Environment Agency, possible provision of main sewage system in village, testing of stream water.
d) Stream cleaning, Clerk had checked with clerk of works, he was available, awaiting reply from contractor, Councillor Phillips to contact Lengthsmen re outstanding order for river bank at Brooklands downstream to be cut.

a). Drainage grant, circulated
Clerk has sought clarification & the impact on Lengthsmen Scheme grant, when work can be carried out etc.
Drains by Bell require cleaning, workorder for lengthsmen raised.
Map obtained re village/chapel Lane no drains marked
b) Flood Warden Scheme, awaiting update
c) Cycle Track, circulated information in confidence
d) Road signs, no reply re cost of signs, logged defect sign missing Great House junction, inspected by Balfour Beatty (BB), no intervention decision, checked with BB, indicated not thought sign needed, requested cost of sign, this had been sent to Herefordshire Council.
Sign B4348 indicating village, reported, possible missing/covered, inspected as defect, overgrown vegetation removed
e) Dorstone Hill Road surface, requested date of resurfacing
f) Change of Locality Steward BB, email circulated, replacement was now in in post, agreed to invite for Parish Walk.
Clerk had sent a letter to the outgoing Locality Supervisor thanking him for his work for the parish and working with the parish council.
Whilst talking to BB also requested update on broken railings at Bell Corner

To consider providing a defibrillator at The Bage, Councillor J Morgan raised the possibility for a defibrillator at The Bage. Agreed to advertise on The Blast/Facebook seeking parishioners at The Bage who could provide a wall/electrical supply to mount a box with defibrillator.
